蝉の鳴く声

今は台湾の夏です。台湾の夏、特に台北は温度が高くて、ムシ暑くて、夏しかいないマレーシアに住んでいた私もたまらない。

そのせいで、私はあせもができました。そして、体温が高いので、足や手やたくさん所が蚊に刺されました。とても大変です。

  

もしろん、今日の話は苦情文ではない。私は話したいのは蝉です。

夏しかいないマレーシアやシンガポールと比べて、台湾の夏は蝉の鳴く声はすごく大きいです。

マレーシアで、蝉の鳴く声があまり聞けない。たぶん聞けるのは森の中と公園です。その代わり、台湾でどこでも聞こえると思います。低木さえあれば、きっと蝉の鳴く声が聞こえます。外国人の私にとって、とても素晴らしい景色です。

蝉の鳴く声はまるで目覚まし時計のように、その声が聞くとつまり朝になって、家を出て仕事をしなければなりません。そして、蝉が鳴かない時、それはもはやおやすみの時間になります。

自然はとても微妙でしょう。

We are experiencing summer in Taiwan. During summer, especially Taipei, the weather can be very hot and high humidity. Even to a Malaysian like myself couldn’t stand this kind of weather. And because of this, I got prickly heat and not to mention due to the fact of high body temperature I got lots of mosquitos’ bites. These really drive me crazy.

Of course, today’s topic is not about grumbling about the weather. Today, I would like to talk about cicadas.

In my opinion Taiwan’s cicadas sound louder as compare with the forever summer Malaysia and Singapore. In Malaysia, the sound of cicadas can only be heard in park or inside the forest. On the other hand, cicadas sound and be heard anywhere in Taiwan, even in the midst of a small scrubs. As a foreigner in Taiwan, I find this phenomenon interesting.  

The sound of cicadas it’s like an alarm clock. When it sounds, this means morning and it’s about time to wake up and go to work. Meanwhile, when the sound of cicadas seize, it means it’s time to go to bed.

Strange, isn’t it? The power work of nature.

外国の景色は本国より綺麗でしょうか。

久しぶりなブログです。

私はマレーシア人です。大抵のマレーシア人は自分の国にあまり誇りを持っていません。昔、マレーシアにいる時、本国の事があまり好きではありませんでした。心の中で、外国の方が良いと言う考え方がいっぱいでした。

しかし、2014年初めて田舎を離れたから、私はマレーシアに対しての見方は３６０度に変えました。

今まで私は日本、シンガポール、台湾、マレーシア以外三つ国の住む経験がありました。各々国も自分の長所と短所があります。この住む経験のおかげで、私は自分の国はそんなに悪くない事が気づきました。

マレーシアの食べ物が美味しいし、景色も綺麗し、人も悪くないです。そして、マレーシアで学校教育を受けないと、色々な言語が話せる機会がないでしょう。別々の国に住む経験もできないかもしれません。

だからこそ、どんな国で生まれたでも、ちゃんとその国に愛して、誇り持って方が良いでしょう。

Well it had been a long time since my last blog.

I am a Malaysian. Generally, we Malaysian are quite ashamed of our nationality. In fact, back then I used to be quite ignorant towards the things happened in my own country. I always had the opinion that foreign lands are always better than my own.

However, ever since I left my hometown in the beginning of 2014, my point of view towards my own motherland had a 360 degrees change.

At present, other than Malaysia, I had experienced staying in other different countries i.e. Japan, Singapore and Taiwan. Each of them has their own advantages and shortcoming. Nonetheless, through these living experiences, I managed to realize that Malaysia isn’t as bad as I thought.

Our food is delicious, the sceneries are beautiful and our people aren’t bad either. Most important of all is that, if I didn’t receive my educated there, I couldn’t have the chances to learn more than one language. Not to mention, be able to stay in different countries.

Thus, I would really hope my fellow country mate be proud of our own nationality and embrace our own uniqueness.

  

健康検査

新入社員だからこそ、先週の水曜日私は健康検査をしました。

シンガポールでもしましたが、今回は血液検査もしました。血液検査は人生の初です。そして、結果は先からもらいました。

大抵全部のテストは合格ですが、総コレステロール値はちょっと高いです。

普通な値は200 mg/dL 以下ですが、私のは234 mg/dLです。

昔、コレステロール値は中年期の悩みでしょうと思いました。しかし、このレポートのおかげで、もう一度自分の体の健康さを注目します。

健康はやっぱり何歳でも大事にしなければならないものですね。

As a newly enrolled staff, I need to go thru some medical checkups. Previously, I did it once when I was in Singapore, but I haven’t gone through the blood test. Thus, this is my first blood test! And the result was freshly obtained this morning.

Basically, I almost passed the entire test, except the total cholesterol level. My result is slightly higher. Normal range should be less than 200 mg/dL, while, mine is 234 mg/dL.

I used to think that high cholesterol is the distress of the middle-aged, yet, today’s result proven me wrong.

I guess no matter what age you are, it is important to take care of your health.

アイロンをかける事

私はアイロンをかける事が好きです。

変な趣味かも？

家族と一緒に住んでいる時、私はアイロンをかける事が全然わかりませんでした。

2014年から自立した後、色々な家事をしなければなりません。

その中で、私はアイロンをかける事が好きです。

私にとって、アイロンは魔法棒のように、シワまみれの服に新しい物に還元します。そして、アイロンをかける時、服の状態もちゃんと観察出来ます。

ちなみに、台湾に来た後、今まで１番小さい（かも？）アイロンを発見しました！とても可愛いし、今は使っています。

I like ironing.

It may sounds weird, but I quite enjoy the process of it.

When I was staying with my family, I didn’t have to get involve with ironing.

Since I moved out from home 2 years ago, I have to do housework by myself, which includes ironing.

To me, the iron is like a magic wand, which can transform crumpled old clothes into a brand new item. Not to mention, by ironing, you can also notice any flaws on the clothes.

By the way, after I came to Taiwan, I found the smallest iron that I ever use!

It is so small that it can even fits into your palm~ XD Cute isn’t it?

引っ越しました

こんにちは、シルビヤです。

色々があって、先月の２６日にシンガポールから、台北に引っ越しました。

田舎ペナンからもっと遠い場所に引っ越しました。

心の中で、嬉しいし、悲しい所もあります。

嬉しいのは好きな人と毎日会えて、ペナンやシンガポールと違う環境に体験できます。

そして、悲しいのはやっぱりホームシックです。一人の娘の私はこんなに遠い場所に行って、親はとても心配でしょう。

人生はそういうものだね〜　良いことも悪いこともあるでしょう。

だからこそ、できる限り頑張って、もっと台湾のことを勉強したい！

Hello everyone, I am Sylvia.

Due to certain issue, I had left Singapore and move to Taipei on the 26^th of March.

This time, I had moved much further away from my hometown Penang.

There are some bittersweet moments in me.

I get to meet my beloved everyday and also experience different culture and environment other than Penang or Singapore.

On the other hand, I got homesick either. As the only daughter of my parents, I suppose they will be quite worried for my wellbeing in this foreign land.

Well I guess that’s life. There will be good and the bad.

Nonetheless, I’ll work hard and learn more about this Formosa Island!
